Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar announced on Sunday that Punjab police had prevented a terrorist attack on a patrol post in the Kundal region of the Mianwali district of Punjab.
The gunfight between law enforcement and militants broke out after 10 to 12 terrorists stormed a police check point in the early hours of Sunday, according to the Punjab police commander.
While one policeman was died in the exchange of fire, at least two terrorists were killed by the firing of police officers stationed on the roof of a neighboring building.
He said that the police had knowledge of the terrorist attack and noted that the most recent wave had foreign participants.
