Two arrested in Lahore, Sheikhupura for alleged bribery and medicine fraud

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle Lahore has arrested two suspects, including a government employee, for their alleged involvement in corruption and fraud.

According to an FIA Lahore Zone spokesperson, the arrested suspects were identified as Tasarruf Hussain and Ghulam Hassan. They were arrested from different areas of Lahore and Sheikhupura.

The spokesperson said FIA officials arrested Tasarruf red-handed while allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs50,000 from a citizen.

The suspect, who was serving as a lineman at Royal Park LESCO Sub-Division, was allegedly receiving the bribe in exchange for replacing the citizen’s electricity meter.

Meanwhile, Ghulam Hassan was arrested after his pre-arrest bail was dismissed by the Lahore High Court.

The FIA said a case had been registered against Hassan for allegedly selling and storing medicines without a drug sale licence and possessing medicines without warranties.

Further investigation was underway, the spokesperson added.
