Threat alerts cannot be termed as secret information or secret documents: IHC

ISLAMABAD, JUNE 01 (ONLINE): Islamabad High Court (IHC ) has issued written decision of suspension of sentence in respect of Islamabad Police ASI Zahoor convicted in case of providing secret information to Russian diplomat.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of IHC issued 5-page written order.

It has been said in written decision that according to forensic analysis report messages of threat alert report were found in the mobile phone of the appellant.

The threat alerts issued by NECTA and interior ministry cannot be termed as secret information or secret documents. The appellant is entitled to suspension of conviction due to possibility that early decision will not be made on appeal and sentence for short period.

The three years sentence awarded by trial court to ASI Zahoor is being suspended. The appellant should file surety bonds worth Rs 2 lac which can be deposited in the form of cash too. The appellant should appear in the court on every hearing till the final decision.

A case under official secret act was registered against ASI Zahoor on December 13, 2021. The special court of official secret act had announced punishment of 3 years in jail on May 18, 2024.
