SHC accepts acquittal plea of Raees Mama former sector in-charge of MQM

KARACHI, Oct 10 (Online): Announcing reserved judgment Sindh High Court (SHC) has accepted acquittal plea of Raees Mama, former sector in charge of MQM in the murder case of police officer and doctor.
Raees Mama is serving life imprisonment in this murder case.
On previous hearing the court had reserved judgment on acquittal plea of Raees Mama on completion of arguments of respondents.
According to prosecution the criminal along with his friends had shot dead SP Shah Muhammad and Doctor Dilshad. The driver of the vehicle was injured in firing by the criminals.

Case was registered against Raees Mama, Asif Lamba and Ijaz Qadri in 2013 in Korngi.

Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) had awarded life imprisonment to Raees Mama after the offence was proved. However ATC had acquitted Asif Lamba and Ijaz Qadri for want of evidence.

In 2017 Raees Lamba was arrested from Malaysia and brought to Pakistan.

The counsel for the accused argued that record of FIA and Immigration was not attached with the case on his return to Pakistan. The identification parade of the criminals was got done after 6 years.

The counsel had requested that ATC while announcing judgment ignored important evidences. Therefore, his client be acquitted.
