Senate passes Supreme Court Review, judgment bill

ISLAMABAD, May 05 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) Review and Judgment Bill has been approved with majority vote in Senate despite opposition strong protest.

The bill was tabled by treasury member Irfan ul Haq Siddiqui.
32 votes were cast in favor of and 21 against the bill in counting.

The government presented this bill in the house as additional agenda.

Opposition senators tore up the copies of bill.
Law minister Azam Nazir Tarar said opposition should listen our clarification about bill.

The opposition members created ruckus. The law minister said if opposition does not listen to us then all OK. We will get pass this bill.

Opposition leader Dr Shahzad Wasim said we have seen government attitude in the house. They are insulting parliament on this floor.

He said law minister has threatened parliament that government will get pass this bill. Why the need of this bill was felt. There is no review behind this bill.

He said government has brought this bill to get scrap their disqualification cases.
