SC wraps up petition against appointment of special assistants by Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD, May 29 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has wrapped up petition filed by a citizen against appointment of special assistants by former Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan being in- fructuous.

The matter came up for hearing before a 3-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial here Monday.

The counsel for petitioner took the plea during the hearing of the case the respective law was also challenged along with the matter of appointment of special assistants by Imran Khan beyond their requirement.

The CJP remarked SC had maintained law for appointment of special assistants in 2021. All the special assistants of Imran Khan remained no more now.

The CJP said to the counsel for petitioner “you challenged law without telling the facts. If you are seeing some lacuna in the law and then you can challenge it again.

Justice Athar Minallah remarked “your case has now become in-fructuous. The special assistants to PM remained no more on their posts following the change of government in 2022.
The court dismissed the petition being in-fructuous.

Citizen Farrukh Nawaz Bhatti had challenged through his counsel GM Chaudhry the appointment of special assistants by Imran Khan.
