SC takes notice of issuance of prohibited bore licenses in the country

ISLAMABAD, January 20 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has taken notice of issuance of prohibited bore licenses in the country.
Order has been issued to registrar SC to register the matter under article 184(3) of public interest.
Attorney General (AG) and advocate generals have been issued notices in this regard.
Report has also been called from all home secretaries and IGs within one month.

SC in its written order regarding bail of an accused in arms theft case remarked a prohibited bore license surfaced during the hearing of the case. The said license which was issued by DIG Mardan was shown to the court.

Question was raised in the order DIG Mardan issued the permit for keeping prohibited arms under what powers. Can the license for prohibited bore be issued this way.

It was said in the order if the prohibited bore license can be issued then who will issue it. How many licenses have been issued. Is the easy availability of prohibited bore license in line with article 9 of the constitution.

SC ordered registrar office to register the matter under article 184(3) of the constitution besides issuing notice to attorney general and advocate generals.
The court has summoned report from all provincial home secretaries and IGs within a month.
