SC rejects plea for issuing directive for arranging meeting with Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD, APRIL 16 (ONLINE): Supreme Court (SC) has rejected plea of counsel for Imran Khan for issuing written order to arrange his meeting with PTI founder.

Appeal regarding remand of Imran Khan in May 9 cases came up for hearing Wednesday.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi took up the appeal for hearing.
Special prosecutor Zulfiqar Naqvi said polygraph and voice matching test of PTI founder have yet to be conducted. Physical remand is needed only for two tests. PTI founder did not cooperate.
The CJP remarked don’t talk about such thing in the court.

Zulfiqar Naqvi said I withdraw my words.

Suleman Safdar counsel for PTI founder appeared in the court. He took the plea there are more than 300 cases against his client. We are facing extraordinary situation. SC should issue special directives to seek instructions from PTI founder. If there are special directives of SC then his meeting with PTI founder will take place.

The CJP while moving to counsel for PTI founder said ” go to PTI founder whenever you have to go for meeting. We will not issue any order. Meet with PTI founder without court’s order. Meeting will take place.

The court gave time to Suleman Safdar for meeting PTI founder in Adiala jail and seeking directives from him.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till April 23.
