ISLAMABAD, March 18 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has issued notice to federal government and all other respondents on the petitions against imposition of further taxes and other taxes in electricity bills. A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Mansoor AIi Shah took up the case for hearing Monday.
The counsel for the petitioners took the plea that registration law is not applicable to the institutions which have filed petitions. Further tax and extra tax is applicable to those institutions which don’t get them registered. Our institutions are already paying GST. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah remarked half tax will be paid and half will not be paid. It is strange thing. You otherwise should say that no tax is applicable to you.
The court while issuing notice has adjourned the hearing of the case till April 25.
