SC fixes for hearing petition seeking nullification of Feb 8 election, holding election afresh

ISLAMABAD, Feb 16 (Online): The petition seeking nullification of February 8 general election has been fixed for hearing in Supreme Court (SC).A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa will hear the case on Feb19.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Musarrat Hilali are included in the bench.

Important legal and constitutional questions have been raised in the petition. Summon notices have been issue to the respondents.
It is pertinent to mention here a citizen Ali Khan had filed this petition in SC four days earlier. Federal government and Election Commission were made respondents in the petition.
The petitioner has requested the court to nullify the elections held on February 8 besides stopping the process of government making as result of this election.

It was further said in the petition order be issued for holding election afresh under the supervision of judiciary. Orders be issued to probe into election rigging besides initiation of action against those found responsible in election rigging and fraud.
