Right to defence was not given to PTI founder, Bjushra Bibi while awarding sentence: Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan

LAHORE, January 31 (Online): Senior lawyer Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan has said the sentence awarded to PTI founder have to be suspended by high court.

The accused was not given right to defence while awarding sentence.. We have been seeing this drama since the last 70 years. It should be stopped now, he said this while talking to media men in Lahore High Court Wednesday.
He held the accused was not given right to defence while announcing sentence. The lawyers of prosecution were appointed the counsel of the accused.

He stated sentence was awarded without recording the statement of the accused under 342.
He held the witnesses of the accused were not called in cipher case. The signatures of PTI founder are not available on his statement under 342. The accused are awarded punishment without giving opportunity to them. The sentence will leave bad impact on national economy.

He said that appeals be fixed for hearing before February 8.

He held Maryam Nawaz too got vehicles from Toshakhana and sold them. No such case was made against her.

He remarked today such thing is being done with one party and tomorrow it will be done with some other political party in future.
