LAHORE, Jan 15 (ONLINE): Lahore High Court (LHC) while issuing notice to the respondents on the petition filed against rejection of PTI founder nomination papers from NA-122 Lahore has sought reply from them today (Tuesday).
A 3-member bench of LHC presided over by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi took up the case for hearing Monday.
The court inquired from Election Commission (EC) counsel during the hearing of the case there is no moral aspect in it. Was PTI founder awarded sentence in the back drop of some moral aspect.
The counsel for EC replied that EC has alleged that PTI founder is dishonest and he has not shown his assets.
The counsel for PTI founder said only being convicted is not enough
Election commission, Appellate Tribunal and complainant have been made respondents in the petition.
It was further said in the petition that nomination papers of PTI founder were rejected illegally. Court should accept the nomination papers.
It is pertinent to mention here that PTI founder has challenged the step of rejection of his nomination papers from NA-89 and NA-122.
Former Prime Minister had filed petition in Lahore High Court through his team.
