Rawalpindi police presents GHQ attack’s 26 accused to media

RAWALPINDI 14 May (Online): City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani has arrested 76 people involved in attack at General Head Quarter (GHQ) and other sensitive installation and burning of Metro station.

Process of arrest in 17 registered cases of violent protest is underway with technical expertise.

On Sunday afternoon CPO Khalid Mehmood along with other officers in police line presented 76 arrested accused of violent protest, burning metro station and damaging sensitive installations including person who was spraying petrol at rickshaw.

Accused are being arrested with the help of CCTV footage and technical data. Solid proves are available against those accused which will be presented in court, said CPO.

He said 800 million lose was made only by burning metro station, and the accused has been arrested. Complete investigation will be made against People those are involved in malicious activities to give them verily punishment from the court.

Committee has been made to investigate he cases under the leadership of SSP. Sub Superintendent Police (SSP) will also led the operations of teams to arrest accused.

More than 50 raids are being made on daily basis to arrest the accused.

On the information of entrance of miscreants in sensitive places police gave quick response and arrested 26 accused which were presented in media.

CPO said we have dispersed miscreants in very short time and within 4 minutes extra police squad reached to GHQ gate whereas some squad were already there.

Responding to the question CPO said there was no lack of information police was informed on time, with cooperation of all institutions safety of all public and sensitive property was made successful.

Attempts are being made to arrest prime accused of attack on GHQ. If some accused are not nominated in FIR they will be nominated in additional report.

He said Rawalpindi resident Afshan Kamran, Fatima Ehsan, Shabana Zahid Ali Gilani, Khan Kashif Khan, and from Islamabad Muhammad Usman Qureshi, Fiaz Abid Malik, Jahangir Ahmed, Abu Bakar, Hamad Khan, and Prizada Shebaz Ansar resident of Murree, Asim Khurshid from Karachi, Munir Ahmed from Chakwal, were indentified.

Khalid Hamdani further said that police is surrounding the people who were involved in damaging defence and other government installations.

He told that 23 people were arrested on Saturday in this regard. 90 accused sent to jail already are also being summoned according to proves in these cases.

29 officers and cops of Waris Khan police station, Ratta Amral police station, 20 police vehicle were damaged in these violent incidents, he added.

Furhter he said people involved in vandalism and arsons will be brought to justice in any condition.

Raids are also being made to arrest the leadership of these miscreants.

Ehsan Ullah, Abdullah, Idrees, Waqas, Ayaz, Qamar Zaman, umer, Ali Hussain, Farad Ullah, Asmat, Abu Bakar Sajjad Munir, Nabil, Sadaqat, Nouman, Amir Shahid Farhad, Shehyar, Lal Shah, Akmal, Adeel, Arshad, Munawar and Syed Qamar were among those who were arrested yesterday (Saturday).

Rawalpindi police has controlled violent protests with their tireless and professional expertise. It is responsibility of Rawalpindi police to implement law for general peace and protection of sensitive installations.

Police commitment, discipline, and role in these violent protests was admirable.

police kept all important road, shopping malls including murree road, mall road, airport road, Peshawar road and entrances and outs of the city during this difficult time, he added.

He said the utmost important is the issue of GHQ and Hamza camp attack and no relaxation will be made to the accused arrested in these cases.
