Lahore, Oct 31 (Online): The Punjab government has decided to form a fact-finding committee to find out the reasons behind the incident of Sadaf Naeem, a female reporter of the TV channel.
The Cabinet Committee on Law and Order has expressed regret over the martyrdom of journalist Sadaf Naeem.
Raja Basharat said that for the prevention of such sad incidents safety of journalists should be ensured in the future, media played a positive role.
The Chief Secretary also expressed his heartfelt sorrow over the incident of the lady reporter and said that the government is in touch with the bereaved family.
The committee will include officers from the concerned departments and will submit its report soon.
This was decided in a meeting of the Cabinet Standing Committee on Law and Order held at the Civil Secretariat.
Provincial Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Muhammad Basharat Raja presided over the meeting from Rawalpindi via video link.
Chief Secretary Punjab Abdullah Khan, IG Police Faisal Shahkar and concerned officers also attended.
The cabinet committee expressed grief over the martyrdom of Channel 5 reporter Sadaf Naeem and the participants also recited Fatiha for the deceased.
Chairman Committee Muhammad Basharat Raja directed that prevention of such sad incidents in future.
He said that Chairman Imran Khan himself went to the house of late Sadaf Naeem and expressed his condolences to the family.
A relief package has already been announced by the Punjab government. He said that the media played a positive role in this incident which is commendable.
On this occasion, Chief Secretary Abdullah Khan said that Sadaf Naeem death was a tragic incident.
The Punjab government is in touch with the bereaved family. The notification of the committee will be done soon.
