Punjab coalition partners finalise strategy for Senate polls

LAHORE – Punjab coalition partners, the PTI and the PML, in a meeting on Monday, deliberated on various proposals regarding upcoming Senate elections. 

In this connection, Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and Member National Assembly Moonis Elahi called on Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar at Chief Minister’s House here. They deliberated upon strategy for success of the PTI and the PML-Q candidates.

Law Minister Raja Basharat was also present in the meeting and briefed the leadership about contacts with the assembly members. The three leaders finalised strategy for Senate elections as they formed various groups of MPAs and assigned tasks to the party leaders having political influence in their respective areas. Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that the PTI and PML will contact the assembly members to ensure success of their candidates. He also expressed his optimism that the coalition partners will win all their Senate seats from the Punjab Assembly. “Our candidates will win with more than the expected number of votes,” he averred.

Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Parvez Elahi said that the allies were on one page regarding Senate elections. “Together, we will ensure success of the nominated candidates,” he said. Member National Assembly Moonis Elahi said that the numbers game had been completed and hopefully the coalition alliance will succeed. He also said that the process to contact the Assembly members will continue.
