PTI, PML-N & PPP retain their standing with highest vote share in Election 2024 versus 2018 – Gallup Pakistan Report

Gallup Pakistan Digital Analytics team on Elections has performed analytics on Election 2024 data released so far by Election Commission of Pakistan. This Press Release is part of series of Press Releases under this program. Previous press release under this series can be found here, which looked at vote share of main political parties in the 2024 General Elections.

Vote share of parties in 2018 vs 2024

The results reveal that PTI/PTI (IND), PML-N and PPP retained their standing as top three parties with highest vote share from 2018 to 2024, with PTI and PML-N experiencing minor decrease in their share and PPP having a minor increase. In 2018, PTI received 31.8% and in 2024 PTI (IND) received 31.2% of national votes, the figures for PMLN were 24.5% for 2018 and 23.6% for 2024, figures for PPP were 13.8% for 2018 and 13.9% for 2024. In other words, Election 2024 are unique from the perspective that major parties neither lost nor gained a significant vote share nationally and as this press release shows provincially as well.

OTHER KEY LEARNINGS FROM THIS PRESS RELEASE:

PTI and PML-N experienced minor decreases in their voter share from 2018 to 2024; 0.6% and 0.9% respectively, while PPP had a minor increase of 0.8%.
Punjab: The gap between PTI/ PTI(IND) and PML-N as the top two parties increased, from 0.8% in 2018 to 2.7% in 2024, PTI retained the top spot and PMLN was a close second. This was a repeat of 2018 situation.
Sindh: PPP maintains a majority vote share in both 2018 (38.7%), and 2024 (45.5%).
KP: PTI/ PTI (IND) further their dominance as the party with the highest vote share with 37.2% in 2018, and 46.1% in 2024.
Balochistan: Independents take lead in vote share (19.8%) in 2024, while BAP (18.2%) reigned in 2018.
Islamabad: PTI/PTI (IND) retain the highest voter share from 2018 to 2024, however gap with PML-N has decreased significantly from 23.6% in 2018 to just 1.3% in 2024.
