President imposes fine on airport manager in harassment case of lady ASI of ASF

ISLAMABAD, April 21 (Online): President Arif Alvi has imposed fine on accused in harassment case.

The president slapped fine to discourage unnecessary legal proceedings on flawed bases.

The accused was ordered to pay fare on travelling by air.

The complainant a female Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Air Port Security Force (ASF) Sukkar was allegedly harassed by airport manager. The accused pressurized her to marry him.

The accused on the other hand started maltreating her within four months of marriage. In February 2022 the accused divorced the female sub inspector. Later he pressurized her to stay with him. The accused threatened her to sack her from service. He sent inappropriate whats app to her.

The complainant contacted Federal Ombudsman for Harassment (FOH). The objection raised by the accused on jurisdiction was rejected by FOH.

The accused filed appeal with the president against the order of FOH which was rejected by the president.

The president said the proceedings of real case are pending hearing still.

The evidences have yet to be recorded to ascertain facts about harassment.

The accused has filed application unnecessarily to prolong the proceedings. There is need to discourage such trends because they are nothing more than a tactics to buy time.

The president further said it is settled matter that no party is allowed to file appeal in haste. Not only the time of FOH was wasted but also the precious time of president was wasted.

The president rejected the appeal plea of the accused besides imposing the fine for paying air travelling expenses of the complainant by the accused.

The president ordered that FOH should complete proceedings of the case within 90 days besides ensuring the payment of fare on travelling by air from the accused to the complainant.
