Preparations underway to scale up gas tariff in Punjab, KP

LAHORE, March 18 (Online): Preparations are underway to scale up gas tariff in Punjab and KP after Sindh and Balochistan.
Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL ) has filed application with OGRA seeking 147 percent further increase in the price of gas.
The company while making plea for increasing the price of gas Rs 2646. 18 per MMBTU has requested to fix new average price of gas Rs 4466.89 .

Sui Northern has estimated revenue shortfall of Rs 180.18 crore.
OGRA will hear Sui Norther application on March 25. According to OGRA, hearing in Peshawar will be held on March 27 in Peshawar.
In the case of approval by OGRA in increase in gas tariff the enhanced tariff will stand implemented from July 01.

Sui Southern gas company has sent application to OGRA for increasing gas tariff from July 01, 2024. This prospective enhancement can shift financial burden of Rs 79.63 billion to the consumers. Sui Southern has requested for enhancing gas tariff Rs 324.03 per MMBTU. OGRA has been asked to fix new average price of sui gas at Rs 1740.80 per MMBTU.

OGRA will hear Sui Southern plea in Karachi today and in Quetta on March 20. The decision of OGRA will be sent to federal government and OGRA will issue enhanced tariff of gas following the approval by the government.
