Political rally raises security concerns to enforce article-144

LAHORE 12 Mar (Online): Provincial information and culture minister Amir Mir said -along with PSL matches, Marathon race, other spring festivals- a political rally increased security concern due to that government imposed article-144 to ban all kind of rallies.

Addressing a press conference from committee room information and culture minister Amir Mir said on Sunday that today there is not only PSL match but also 40km marathon race and 2RD cycle race. To make all these events successful government is providing full security.

He said PTI chairman announcement again on that day raised security concerns.

Lahore district administration in dialogue with PTI leadership has tried to convince them to postpone their rally for few days. Deputy Commissioner Lahore also informed them about reservations. Despite all efforts, PTI is stubborn and wants to hold public rally.

So the interim Punjab government decided to impose article-144 on this sensitive day to ban all kind of rallies to stop any kind of untoward incident.

Minister said earlier on 8 March not only PSL teams were arriving Lahore but ‘Aurat March’ and ‘Haya March’ were also scheduled. Court directed for safety and peaceful holding of ‘Aurat March’.

Despite all efforts of administration, PTI chief tried to hold illegal political rally. Government compulsively enforced article-144.

He said PTI head should cooperate with government and avoid all kind of illegal actions because if he stands against the state, the law will make it course make sure state writ at any cost.

He cleared that right now aticle-144 imposed for one day now which will be lifted as situation improves, however if any attempt will be made to deteriorate the situation the period of article-144 will be increased.
