ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication Ayesha Raza Farooq on Wednesday chaired a review meeting to assess the performance and key outcomes of the September sub-national polio immunization campaign, which reached 28.2 million children across 112 districts.
The meeting was attended by members of the National Polio Core Team, provincial coordinators and their respective teams. Participants reviewed campaign performance, progress in reaching missed and high-risk children and measures required to address remaining gaps.
The campaign was conducted from September 21 to 27, with more than 273,000 front line health workers participating in vaccination activities across communities.
The meeting also reviewed priority actions to sustain progress and strengthen efforts to reach children who could not be vaccinated during the campaign.
WHO Director for Polio Eradication Dr Jamal Ahmed participated in the meeting and shared technical perspectives on campaign outcomes and priorities for interrupting polio virus transmission.
Ayesha Raza Farooq stressed the need for continued coordination, accountability and focused efforts at all levels to ensure that no child was missed during vaccination activities.
She emphasized sustained efforts to reach every eligible child and maintain momentum towards a polio-free Pakistan.
