ISLAMABAD, Oct 07 (Online): PML-N while declaring NAB ordinance draconian law has announced to take every legal steps against it.
“ the whole package was brought to extend chairman NAB term. This amendment runs contrary to the decisions of superior judiciary. Keeping in view the national interest, we will consider all options including tabling resolution in the house. The major draw back of the ordinance is this government has issued NRO itself. All the major scandals including sugar, wheat and medicines will stand dispensed with. Government is taking steps to foment chaos in the country. Pakistan cannot afford legislation for the protection of one man rule” this was said by PML-N leaders including Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Khurram Dastgir and Azam Nazir Tarar while addressing a joint press conference here Thursday.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said this ordinance will benefit me, Ahsan Iqbal and several others but if we see national interest, then this ordinance is detrimental for Pakistan. I am not like Javed Iqbal that I will keep silent for the sake of my self interest. We will take every legal and constitutional step against this ordinance.
He went on to say what was need to promulgate this ordinance. The both houses of the parliament were in session. They should brought this bill therein. NAB amendment bill is draconian law. The ministers are giving dissident statements over it.
He held this ordinance is aimed at covering up the corruption of government. This is only for extending the term of such chairman NAB who does his service only for the sake of Imran Khan.
He remarked NAB now cannot investigate into sugar, atta, and other scandals. No one can raise questions on costly oil and LNG. No one can raise question on the corruption of ministers, corrupt people,. This NRO is spirit of ordinance. NAB can not raise question on tax evasion. NAB can not investigate the thieves sitting in federal cabinet.
The strange thing in the ordinance is this that no question can be raised on tax evasion and concealing the assets. The four to five ministers who had plundered billion of rupees cannot be investigated by NAB now.
He alleged government has made attempt to commit robbery on the independence of judiciary. The powers to appoint and transfer the judges now rest with the government. President is happy over it that powers have been delegated to him despite the fact that he only signs. It is an attempt to get favorite decisions from judiciary. The accountability court judge will receive salary five fold now. Government will induct corrupt people as judges.
The incumbent chairman NAB will remain chairman as long as Imran Khan remains PM. Corruption of the government will continue to be protected and NRO will continue to be given this corrupt government unless Javed Iqbal stays as chairman NAB. Malam Jabba And Billion tree corruption cases were abolished. This ordinance contains ridiculous clauses and is based on malafide intent, he added.
Khawaja Asif said according to Transparency international corruption has soared up during the Imran Khan government more than any other government. Financial scandals of billion of rupees are existing against the cabinet members of this government.
The incumbent rulers are the most corrupt rulers of the history of the country. Attempt has been made to target opposition by more blackening a black law.
Ahsan Iqbal said amendment ordinance has been formed taking into consideration two kinds of people first is protecting corrupt people sitting in the government and second obtaining decisions against opposition from favorite judges.
Azam Nazir Tarar said lawyers organizations too have rejected this ordinance.
