PM Shehbaz to address UNGA on Sep 23

ISLAMABAD – September 11 (ONLINE) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to address the United Nations’ General Assembly (UNGA) on September 23, local media reported Sunday.

According to media report, four cabinet members and top officials will accompany prime minister to New York, where he will represent Pakistan at UNGA’s 77th session.

The Prime Minister is also expected to return back same evening, media report claimed, adding that Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto, State Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and Information Minister Maryum Aurangzeb will be travelling along Shehbaz Sharif.

The delegation will also include Foreign Secretary, and officials from foreign and other ministries. The prime minister will be landing in New York on September 19, while he will attend the opening session of UNGA moot the very next morning.

Shehbaz Sharif, as per the schedule, will address a conference on educational reforms. The conference will review strategy to combat impacts of infectious diseases on the education system. Moreover, the prime minister will also be attending conferences on food insecurity and climate change.

Before his landing in the United States, the premier is also due to address Shanghai Cooperation Orgainzation’s (SCO) summit on September 16. For this, PM Shehbaz will be visiting Uzbekistan for two days, that is, September 15, 16.

The Prime Minister will then fly back to Pakistan and after a day’s break; he will head towards London on September 18, where he will be taking part in Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.
