ISLAMABAD, Dec 18 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Thursday inaugurated the T Chowk flyover and Islamabad Expressway Signal Free Corridor projects aimed at substantially improving the flow of traffic on the roads of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of various development projects, the Prime Minister said that the team led by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had completed several key infrastructure initiatives to facilitate the general public and transporters using Islamabad’s road network.
He praised the Interior Minister, Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), and their team for completing all the projects in record time. The T-Chowk Flyover Project, also known as the Iqbal Chowk Flyover, was completed in just 77 days at a cost of Rs. 1.4 billion.
The Prime Minister said that with the completion of these flyover projects and the establishment of a signal-free corridor on Islamabad Expressway, traffic congestion for vehicles coming from GT Road toward Islamabad and Rawalpindi would be significantly reduced.
He assured that the government would continue to uphold transparency and quality in development projects, adding that the journey of public service would carry on with the same commitment. The Prime Minister also appreciated officers for removing encroachments across the city and addressing illegal constructions that had remained unresolved for decades.
“Illegal encroachments are a major obstacle in the planning and execution of development projects,” he remarked.
Speaking on the occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed the gathering on the completed flyover projects, stating that they would substantially improve traffic flow in Islamabad. He also said that the long-standing issue of water supply for Islamabad residents would be resolved.
Additionally, the Interior Minister unveiled Vision 2027 for Islamabad, a comprehensive development blueprint outlining future infrastructure projects aimed at improving the capital’s urban landscape.
Federal ministers, parliamentarians, and senior government officials were also present at the ceremony.
