PM Imran Khan takes notice in wake of Gwadar protests

Islamabad – December 12 (Online): Prime Minister Imran Khanon Sunday took notice of the ongoing protests and demands of Gawadar’s fishermen.

A prolonged protest has been demonstrated by the native fishermen with a label of ‘Balochistan ko haq do (Provide Balochistan with its due rights)’ and the demonstrations were lead by a local leader Maulana Hidayaturehman.

“I have taken notice of the very legitimate demands of the hardworking fishermen of Gwadar. Will be taking strong action against illegal fishing by trawlers and will also speak to CM Balochistan,” tweeted the premier on Sunday.

Gwadar has seen protests for the past few weeks, sometimes featuring thousands of women with young children, speaking out against the large trawlers.

Locals say the trawlers, which are illegally plundering the Arabian seabed, are making it harder for fishermen to fish in the waters.
