PM Imran Khan stops ministers from reacting to justice retired Wajihuddin’s remarks

Islamabad – December 17 (Online): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday stopped federal ministers and party representatives from reacting to Justice retired Wajihuddin’s remarks, saying that focus should be on opposition’s financial malpractices.

Justice retired Wajihuddin was the sole member of ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), but later parted ways with the party due to differences. Wajihuddin had recently made serious allegations regarding PTI’s top leadership including Prime Minister Imran Khan.

According to details, a meeting of federal ministers and party representatives was held Friday under chairmanship of the Prime Minister. PM Imran told party representatives to stay away from former PTI member’s remarks as controlling inflation and giving relief to people was party’s goal.

According to sources, corruption cases against National Assembly’s opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif were reviewed during the meeting. Special assistant to PM Shahzad Akbar briefed the meeting via video link.

During briefing, meeting was told that billions of rupees were transacted to Shahbaz Sharif through fake accounts. The meeting was told that opposition leader was directly involved in money-laundering case.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, while stressing upon need to eradicate money-laundering and other financial corrupt practices said that his government was committed to serve corrupt individuals with accountability.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that opposition was responsible for country’s dejected economic situation. He directed party representatives to expose opposition’s money laundering and corrupt practices.

According to details, the meeting also reviewed country’s energy crisis. Federal Minister for energy Hammad Azhar briefed meeting participants on government’s initiatives to meet energy crisis.

Prime Minister Imran Khan was also briefed on steps to control inflation. Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance Shaukat Tarin told meeting that decisions made by government will bring a decreasing trend in inflation. Soon the exchange rate for dollar will also decrease, Tarin told meeting.
