PM gave policy statement of not becoming part of any block: FO

Islamabad – December 10 (Online): Foreign office Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar on Friday said termed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recent statement of ‘not becoming part of any block’ as Pakistan’s foreign policy and added that Pakistan wanted cordial relations with each country.

In his weekly media briefing on Friday, Spokesperson of foreign office said that Pakistan doesn’t want to become part of ‘block politics’. “We are in constant contacts with United States. Soon heads of high level US committees will visit Pakistan” he told reporters.

Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar said that all arrangements have been finalized to host 17th Extraordinary Session of OIC Council of Foreign Ministers on 19th of this month in Islamabad.

Asim Iftikhar said Pakistan was getting positive response on the invitation extended to member countries, observer states and P5 countries to attend the extraordinary session. Session’s focus is on serious humanitarian situation in Afghanistan. He said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia recently signed agreements to utilize Pakistan’s manpower.

On the plight of Kashmiris in IIOJK, the spokesperson urged international community including the United Nations to take immediate cognizance of grave situation in IIOJK. “On the occasion of world human rights day, we must remember Indian barbarism against innocent Kashmiri people” he urged.

He said that India’s human rights violations against Muslims in India and Jammu and Kashmir were condemnable.

Answering a question on Winter Olympics to be held in China, he said Pakistan oppose the politicization of sports and hopes that all nations would come together in Beijing to showcase their sporting skills.
