KARACHI Aug 13 (Online): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the launch of its first direct flight from Dubai to Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, airlines spokesperson Abdul Hafeez Khan said on Sunday.
The inaugural flight will take off on Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14, 2023, he added.
It will be a major milestone in the promotion of tourism in the northern region of Pakistan, spokesperson maintained.
PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan said that this is an important occasion for PIA and the people of Pakistan. The launch of this new flight route will make Skardu more accessible to international travelers, and help boost tourism in this beautiful region.
Skardu is a beautiful valley situated at an altitude of 7000 feet above sea level. It is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, ancient lakes and lush green valleys. The region is home to a variety of wildlife, including snow leopards, ibex and markhor, he added.
Abdullah Hafeez Khan said that Skardu is a hidden gem, and we believe it has the potential to become a major tourist hub in the region. This new flight route will allow people to visit Skardu and all that it has to offer. It will be easier to experiment.
Airline Spokesperson said Dubai Skardu flight will operate once a week on Saturdays. The flight time is approximately four hours and 30 minutes. PIA is introducing special introductory fares on this route. “We are confident that this new flight route will be a success. Skardu is a truly unique destination, and we believe it has the potential to attract a large number of tourists from all over the world. Apart from its natural beauty, Skardu has numerous historical and cultural attractions. It is also home to cultural attractions. These include Ultat Fort, Sugar Fort, and Khurmang Valley. Skardu is also a popular destination for trekking and mountaineering expeditions.
