The Peshawar High Court on Thursday ordered Pakistani authorities to immediately ban video-sharing social networking service TikTok.
The orders were issued by PHC Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan, who was hearing a petition filed by a citizen seeking a ban on Tiktok.
During a hearing of case against the app, plaintiff and Deputy Attorney General appeared before the court. Chief Justice remarked that the videos that are being uploaded on the app are not acceptable in our society so a ban should be imposed on the application from today.
DG Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) told the court that a request has been made with the officials of the application; however, no positive response was received from the company.
On this CJ PHC said that a ban should be imposed on the application as long as officials of the company do not follow directions of the country.
He further said that the application is having negative influence on the young generation.
