ISLAMABAD, Oct 01 : Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday emphasized that the people of the province were united in their desire to eliminate extremism and restore peace in the region.
He expressed his deep appreciation for the peace-loving nature of the province’s people during a ceremony to pay tribute to martyred police constable Burhan Ali, who was died in a terrorist attack in Malam Jabba recently.
Speaking at the local hotel here, Governor Faisal Kundi emphasized that the protection of citizens’ lives and property was the government’s foremost duty and responsibility.
The ceremony, hosted by the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and the Ambassador of Turkmenistan, was attended by Governor Kundi along with ambassadors and high commissioners from 14 countries, as well as other senior officials.
Family members of the late constable were also specially invited to the event.
Faisal Karim Kundi reflected on the collective sorrow felt by the nation following the attack on a convoy of foreign diplomats, which had deeply affected the community.
He particularly honored Constable Burhan Ali for sacrificing his life while safeguarding international guests.
During the gathering, diplomats from Azerbaijan, Iran, Portugal, Bosnia, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Zimbabwe, Tajikistan, Indonesia and Rwanda presented a jointly signed condolence letter to Burhan Ali’s family, expressing their heartfelt sympathy and honoring the bravery he displayed in fulfilling his duties.
In his remarks, the Governor thanked the ambassadors for acknowledging Constable Burhan Ali’s sacrifice and for showing solidarity with the families of the martyrs.
He said that this gesture from friendly nations highlights the recognition of the sacrifices made by the people, police, and security forces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the fight against terrorism.
Kundi promised to invite the diplomats to the Governor House in Peshawar soon to showcase the true spirit of hospitality and peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He concluded by recognizing the sacrifices made by the public and police alongside other security forces in the ongoing battle against terrorism.
