Parliament’s Committee approves media strategy for 1973 Constitution celebrations

ISLAMABAD, March 15 (Online): The Advisory Committee of the Parliament to oversee the preparations for Golden Jubilee celebrations of the 1973 Constitution, in its 4th meeting held in Islamabad on Wednesday with Convener of the Committee, Senator Mian Raza Rabbani approved media strategy for the celebrations.

The Committee also condoned designs for the commemorative stamps and coin.
The meeting thoroughly reviewed the progress made with respect to construction of constitutional monument, restoration of its old National Assembly Hall at the State Bank building, Islamabad, special messages by PTA as well as status of declamation contests being carried out at educational institutes across the country.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb, while sharing details of the media strategy to cover the commemoration, said all departments of the ministry including PTV, Radio Pakistan, DEMP, PID, EP Wing, PEMRA have planned certain activities related to the celebrations.

She said some of which are airing special programs, documentaries, podcasts, exhibitions, quiz contests, mushairas, publications of articles, news supplements etc.

It was shared that all activities would be given ample coverage on print, electronic and digital media both in private and public sphere with special emphasis on regional channels.

The Chair of the Committee Senator Mian Raza Rabbani and other Members lauded the comprehensive strategy and also gave their input to make it more inclusive and comprehensive.

Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar apprised the Committee that matters related to restoration of old Assembly Hall at the State Bank of Pakistan building has been addressed and it would be completed in few months.

The Committee proposed to declare the said Hall as national heritage.
Ishaq Dar also shared sample designs for the commemorative coin, one of which was approved by the Committee.

The Committee lauded the speedy response of the Minister with respect to dedicated tasks.

Additionally, the meeting also took cognizance of the reports of the Sub-Committees on Education and declamations, construction of constitutional monument, finances related to the event among others.
