ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH) organized its World Heart Day annual symposium 2026 to promote awareness about cardiovascular diseases, prevention, healthy lifestyles and the importance of timely action to protect heart health.
The symposium brought together health professionals, cardiology and nutrition experts, academics and university students.
Maj Gen (R) Masud-Ur-Rehman Kiani, President PANAH, highlighted the need for collective efforts to prevent cardiovascular diseases and promote healthier communities.
Dr. Shakil Ahmed Mirza, Additional Executive Vice President, PANAH, stressed the importance of prioritizing heart health and strengthening preventive measures and public awareness about cardiovascular diseases.
PANAH General Secretary Sana Ullah Ghumman briefed participants on the association’s initiatives for heart disease prevention, health awareness and community engagement.
Senior Preventive Cardiologist, AFIC, Shazia Fatima Malik delivered a detailed presentation on heart health and cardiovascular disease prevention, emphasizing healthy lifestyle choices, early detection and timely management of risk factors.
Nutrition and Research Expert Munawar Hussain and Professor, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Rizwan Alam also contributed to the symposium.
Students from various universities actively participated in the event, highlighting the role of young people in promoting healthy lifestyles and greater awareness of cardiovascular health.
The symposium reaffirmed PANAH’s commitment to strengthening public awareness, promoting preventive healthcare and encouraging communities to take timely action against cardiovascular diseases.
