ISLAMABAD,Feb 07 (Online): Foreign Office (FO) has said Pakistan is fully committed to promote an inclusive democratic process.
This was said by FO spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch
while reacting to remarks made by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights regarding the upcoming general elections in Pakistan,
She held Pakistan is fully resolved to uphold rule of law and protect the haman rigjts and fundamental freedom.
Guarantees in this regard are enshrined in our law and constitution
Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights had said in a statement that organization condemns all acts of violence against political parties and candidates and stresses authorities to maintain necessary fundamental freedom for the sake of meaningful democratic process.
At least 24 incidents of violence against political parties workers have been reported before election.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights had appealed to the authorities to ensure fully fair and free election and reiterate their resolve for democratic process.
FO spokesperson said security plans have been given final shape hold the elections on Thursday as per the electoral laws of Pakistan.
She said our judicial system provides for fair trial and due process. Domestic legal remedies are available in case of any complaints in the electoral process.
