ISLAMABAD – February 14 (ONLINE): Opposition will not table the much-talked ‘no confidence motion’ against government until it attains required support inside parliament, a private news channel reported Monday.
As per the media report, opposition parties believed that they did not have enough numbers at the parliament in order to oust government. It is pertinent to mention here that government has the support of 179 members at the National Assembly while opposition’s due votes are 163.
News channel quoted its sources as saying that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had proposed to table no confidence motion in ongoing week but the rest of opposition did not agree to it. The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), mainly comprising of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and the JUI-F said motion must be moved at the completion of required numbers.
The no-confidence motion will be submitted with the signatures of 20 percent members. The opposition needs 10 more members for the success of the motion.
The opposition will submit the no-confidence motion after mustering the support of 10 members belonging to the PML-Q and the MQM-P.
However, the PDM could not form a committee to make the no-confidence motion successful. The opposition will have to give an agenda against the prime minister while submitting the no-confidence motion.
