Opposition in Senate rejects mini budget, terming it tyrannical

ISLAMABAD, Jan 07 (Online): Opposition in Senate has rejected the mini budget terming it tyrannical maintaining that the government should withdraw IMF dictated mini budget forthwith.

The oppositions urged the government in the Senate session Friday to take steps for curbing inflation in the country. The statement from finance minister Shaukat Tareen that the poor segments of society will not be affected by the mini budget is ridiculous and pack of lies. Tsunami will not come but it has come.

The opposition said that government is continuing its economic terrorism with the people.

Senator Rana Maqbool said that people are being subjected to mountains upon mountains inflation and government is serving the interests of mafia inside the country. This mini budget will unleash new wave of the price hike.

Sales tax on bakery item which is used equally by both the poor and rich people has been increased. Exemption of sales tax from raw material has been withdrawn. The raw material this will go costlier causing hike in the products.

Government is going to robbing 2 billion dollars from the pockets of people to acquire tranche of one billion dollars from IMF, he held.
Senator Mushtaq Ahmad from JI said government is committing economic terrorism with the people.

Robbery of 60 billion dollars was committed with the people in the form of Fuel Adjustment Surcharge. Mini budget is economic murder of common man.

He stated mini budget will render more Pakistanis jobless and homeless besides escalating the crime rate.

He pointed out that government has itself said that it had collected tax more than its target six months earlier. Then mini budget was brought. The powers of parliament have been given to IMF.
JI rejects this mini budget, he added.
