Nawaz malady ‘open fraud’, says Fawad Chaudhry

Islamabad – January 11 (ONLINE): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said Tuesday that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had betrayed government in the name of illness, terming former premier’s malady as ‘open fraud’.

Briefing the media correspondents after Federal Cabinet’s meeting on Tuesday, the minister said that almost 22 people expired in Murree tragedy. Punjab government had established an inquiry committee to probe the unfortunate incident and the committee would submit its report within next seven days.

Fawad Chaudhry said that Prime Minister Imran Khan showed severe grief and concern over the incident. “PTI government worked days and nights to promote tourism and 13 new tourist spots were established during last four years” Fawad added.

Talking about the cause of death, the minister said that tourists lost their lives because of accumulation of Carbon Monoxide (CO) gas in their cars. 1 lac and 64 thousand cars had entered Murree before the snow fall.

Administration must be clearly guided in these circumstances, he said.
Fawad Chaudhry said Pakistan would not undergo another lockdown and dismissed reports of schools’ closure amid rising coronavirus cases. He said the federal cabinet was informed that the COVID-19 positivity ratio had doubled in the country.

“But despite this, it is our resolve that we absolutely not impose a lockdown in Pakistan. Our economy cannot bear the burden [of another lockdown],” he said.

The information minister said “an excellent” vaccination campaign was underway and the government had invested $2 billion into the vaccines.

Talking about former PM Nawaz’s return to country, the minister said that he [Nawaz] had betrayed nation in the name of illness to fly abroad. “His departure from country was a sheer drama. Shahbaz Sharif was equally involved in this drama since he submitted fake affidavit. Government will move Lahore High Court for Shahbaz’s disqualification in this case” he said.

Fawad Chaudhry said that Nawaz Sharif was living in London for last two and a half year and was unable to get his medication done. “We have asked Pakistan High Commission twice for Nawaz Sharif’s medical reports but the Sharif family did not comply” Fawad added.
