Islamabad – November 26 (Online): Meeting of National Assembly’s standing committee on information has been summoned under chair of Mian Javed Latif on December 6.
According to sources, meeting will review details of advertisements given to media houses by federal, KPK and Punjab governments during 2000-2021 time-periods.
Former Chief Judge of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar and former Chief Justice of Gilgit Baltistan Appellate Court Rana Shameem have been called up to appear before the committee.
Moreover, journalist Ahmed Noorani, Editor-in-chief Samaa TV and Saqib Nisar have been directed to give their perspectives related to the latest ‘audio leak’ scam before the National Assembly committee.
Committee will also review the matter of dispute between PTV anchor Noman Niaz and former pace bowler Shoib Akhtar.
Meeting’s agenda also includes cases of attacks on journalists Asad Toor and Absar Alam while cases against Hamid Mir and Asma Shirazi will also be looked after.
