More than 90000 Afghan refugees returned via Torkham border

PESHAWAR, OCT 31 (ONLINE): Over 90000 Afghan refugees have returned to home via Torkham border following Pakistan government decision to send illegal foreign nationals back to their respective countries.

The process of voluntary return of Afghan refugees from KP is underway following Pakistan government decision to send undocumented foreigners back to their countries.

Home department KP has set up camps temporary in Peshawar, Hari Pur and district Khyber for repatriation of illegal Afghan refugees.

From today (Wednesday) illegal foreigners will be arrested and transferred to their camps and later they will be sent to Afghanistan via Torkham.

Temporary camp in Peshawar has capacity to accommodate 2000 persons. Medical aid, food and water will be also provided to them. Special security arrangements have been made in temporary camps.

On the other side interior department has established control room as well where the process of return is being monitored. Helpline has also been launched wherefrom the illegal foreigners will be identified and guidance will be provided in regard to other problems.

The number of Afghan refugees residing in KP is more than 900000 while visas have been issued to 116418 Afghans this year.
