May 9 protest vandalism case: PTI founder, Asad Umar others acquitted

ISLAMABAD, Feb 28 (Online): District and sessions courts Islamabad has acquitted PTI founder, Faisal Javed, former PTI leader Asad Umar and others in May 9 protest and vandalism case registered in police station Tarnol. Judicial magistrate Muhammad Shabbir issued the decision on accepting acquittal pleas.

The lawyers Amna Ali, Sardar Masroof Khan and Mohsin Ghaffar appeared in the court during the hearing of the case.
It has been said in the decision that the accused filed separate applications regarding their acquittal under section 249-A. The accused cannot be awarded punishment in the case. Conducting further trial of the case is wastage of time.

It was said in the decision the acquittal pleas of PTI founder, Asad Umar, Raja Khurram Shahzad and Nawaz are also accepted while acquittal plea of Ali Nawaz Awan, Faisal Javed, Abid Hussain and Zahjr Khan are also accepted.
The decision further said the accused Asad Umar, Ali Nawaz Awan and Faisal Javed are on bail. They can take back their surety bonds.
It is pertinent to mention here that case was registered against the accused persons in Tarnol police station on May 26, 2022.
