Islamabad October 26 (Online): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday approved appointment of Lieutenant General Nadeem Anjum as the Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (DG-ISI), a notification from the Prime Minister’s office revealed.
The much awaited notification was issued on Tuesday evening.
Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum is set to replace incumbent ISI-Chief Lt Gen Faiz Hameed from next month.
“The Prime Minister has seen and approved the appointment of Lt Gen Nadeem Ahmed Anjum as Director General Inter-Services Intelligence” a notification from the PM office read as.
“The incumbent Director General ISI shall continue to hold charge as the Director General Inter Services Intelligence till November 19, 2021” the notification further said.
The appointment comes nearly three weeks of an alleged deadlock between the civilian and military leadership of country.
Army, earlier on October 6 had announced appointment of Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum as the new spymaster, while Prime Minister’s office had not reacted to the announcement for couple of weeks.
After weeks of alleged deadlock, Prime Minister’s office on Tuesday evening finally notified the appointment of Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum as new ISI chief.
