LAHORE, March 13 (Online): Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought reply from PEMRA on the petition seeking court’s order to stop broadcasting of Nawaz Sharif statements on TV.
The petition filed by Azhar Siddique advocate for stopping broadcasting of Nawaz Sharif statements on television came up for hearing before single bench of LHC led by Justice Shahid Karim Monday.
The counsel for the petitioner said Nawaz Sharif is convicted and proclaimed offender. PEMRA has imposed ban on broadcasting Nawaz Sharif speeches since 2020. The statements of Nawaz Sharif are being broadcast in media despite imposition of ban. PEMRA is taking no action on this matter.
The petitioner prayed the court to order to implement the decision of PEMRA on stopping broadcasting of Nawaz Sharif speeches.
He requested the court to issue order for stopping broadcasting of Nawaz Sharif speeches.
The court while seeking reply from PEMRA directed Deputy Attorney General to appear before it after getting instructions.
