LHC reserves judgment on petition against rejection of nomination papers of Pervaiz Elahi

LAHORE, Jan 13 (Online): Lahore High Court (LHC) has reserved judgment on petition against rejection of nomination papers of PTI senior leader and former Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.

A 3-member full bench of LHC presided over by Justice Baqar Ali Najafi took up for hearing the petitions filed by Pervaiz Elahi, Moonis Elahi and Qaisra Elahi against the rejection of their nomination papers.

Shahzad Shaukat counsel for Pervaiz Elahi argued allegation of concealing the facts in the nomination papers was leveled. It is alleged that 7 arms licenses have not been shown in nomination papers.

He took the plea it was alleged that special account was not mentioned. As per law these things are recorded in the papers.

Counsel Shahzad Shaukat said Pervaiz Elahi is senior politician. He should be allowed to contest election.

Continuing with his arguments Shahzad Shaukat said proposer and seconder were arrested. Amjid Pervez was arrested when he went to file their nomination papers.

Justice Ali Baqar Najafi remarked this was responsibility of election commission to issue orders timely.

The court inquired from counsel had he filed any complaint in election commission.
He replied he resorted to court and we were allowed to go to RO office on court’s orders.

Later the court reserved judgment on completion of arguments.
