LHC moved for initiation of action against PM for violating affidavit

LAHORE, May 03 (Online): Lahore High Court (LHC) has adjourned for indefinite period the hearing of the petition seeking action against Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif for violating affidavit given by him on the occasion of sending Nawaz Sharif abroad.

The plea of counsel for federal government for declaring the petition seeking constitution of JIT non maintainable on this matter was rejected by the court.

The petition filed by the citizen Azhar Abbas came up for hearing before single bench of LHC led by Justice Sultan Tanvir Ahmad Wednesday.

At the inception of hearing the court remarked the court is ultimate forum. Satisfy us first you went to which administrative institutions.

The petitioner said he filed applications with all institutions and Imran Khan. But my grievance was not redressed.

The court inquired from the petitioner the court should disqualify Shehbaz Sharif on what basis.

The petitioner said Nawaz Sharif went abroad through cheat and deceit. sometimes he is found visiting Europe and sometime Saudi Arabia. But he is not returning to Pakistan.

According to text of the petition Shehbaz Sharif had given affidavit that Nawaz Sharif will return to Pakistan after his treatment. Shehbaz Sharif gave false affidavit. Shehbaz Sharif has violated his affidavit.

The state counsel said the petitioner is not aggrieved party. The petition is non maintainable due to availability of the proper forum.

The court while rejecting the state counsel plea for declaring the petition non maintainable remarked the questions raised by the petitioner are very important. The petitioner came here after resorting to proper forum.

The court while directing the petitioner to attach more documents with the petition adjourned the hearing for indefinite period.
