LAHORE, October 17 (Online): Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued written order for hearing the petition against amending life time disqualification period law in election act.

Justice Shari Bilal Hassan of LHC issued the written order on the petition of citizen Mashkoor Hussain.

Nadim Sarwar gave arguments on behalf of petitioner.

Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan said in written order points of important nature have been raised in the petition. Attorney General and Advocate General Punjab should appear on next hearing for assistance.

The court issued notice to principal secretary Aiwan-e-Sadr and Election Commission (EC) too.

The court said in written order all respondents should file reply till October 23.

Nadim Sarwar counsel for the petitioner took the plea that life time disqualification period was limited to 5 years disqualification by making amendment in election act in 2023.

This amendment was made to benefit only one man which is based on malafide intent.
