LAHORE, May 14 (ONLINE): Lahore High Court (LHC) has given time to state counsel for filing reply on the petition for fixation of new price of wheat. A two members bench of LHC presided over by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi took up for hearing petition filed by Ahmad Bilal Mehboob advocate here Tuesday.The petitioner took the plea federal government imported 40 lac metric tons wheat despite having 35 lac ton wheat in store.
This act of importing wheat by the government caused loss of one billion dollars to the national kitty. It was further said in the petition government of Punjab has maintained the price of the wheat which was fixed in previous year. Inflation has risen by 20 percent but rate of wheat for farmers has not been increased.
The petitioner requested the court to order government to fix new price of wheat. During the hearing of the case the state counsel requested the court to give time to him for filing reply on this matter.
The court while giving time to state counsel for filing reply adjourned the hearing of the case. LHC has already sought reply from federation, Punjab government and agriculture department.
