LHC declares non maintainable petition filed against banning broadcasting of Imran speeches

LAHORE, March 08 (Online): Lahore High Court (LHC) has declared non maintainable petition filed against ban imposed by PEMRA on TV channels for broadcasting Imran Khan statements and speeches.

The petition filed by Imran Khan against slapping ban by PEMRA on broadcasting his speeches, statements came up for hearing before single bench of IHC led by Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan Wednesday.

Barrister Ahmad Pinsota appeared on behalf of Imran Khan.

He took the plea that PEMRA has imposed complete ban on broadcasting Imran Khan speeches and statements. Slapping ban on statements and speeches is sheer violation of basic constitutional rights.

The counsel for Imran Khan said the petitioner was left with no other option than resorting to court. Therefore, court should nullify the ban imposed by PEMRA forthwith.

The court while upholding registrar office objection declared the petition non maintainable.

It is pertinent to mention here that LHC registrar office had raised objection that PEMRA order was not attached with the petition.
