LHC allows Sheikh Rashid to contest election

LAHORE, Jan 17 (Online): Lahore High Court (LHC) has allowed former interior minister Sheikh Rashid to contest election.
The petition against acceptance of nomination papers of Sheikh Rashid came up for hearing in LHC Wednesday. LHC declared Sheikh Rashid eligible to contest election.

The court rejected all the objections on nomination papers of Sheikh Rashid and allowed Sheikh Rashid to contest election.
It was taken plea in the petition in this regard that the nomination papers of Sheikh Rashid have been accepted against the facts. It is therefore, requested court should nullify the decision of appellate tribunal. The nomination papers of Sheikh Rashjd be rejected.

It is pertinent to mention here Sheikh Rashid has once again been arrested. He was arrested outside the court on dismissal of his bail plea in May 9 case. He was arrested in the case registered against him in police station New Town. The siege and arson case is registered against Sheikh Rashid.

Earlier the bail of Sheikh Rashid and his nephew Sheikh Rashid and others was approved in GHQ attack case. Judge Malik Asif Ijaz of Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi announced reserved judgment in GHQ attack case.
