KARACHI, MAY 11 (ONLINE): Foreign Minister (FM) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said he is not in favor of banning any political party including PTI and the legal and constitutional way will have to be pursued to ban PTI.
“I don’t support slapping ban on any political party including PTI. Legal and constitutional way will have to adopt to proscribe PTI. This is there too as last option. It is our endeavor that such a political outcome is derived which brings political stability in the country. We neither celebrate the arrests nor do we distribute sweets. They have done what they were to do and PTI now should not create more deterioration, he said this while addressing a press conference here Thursday.
He went on to say when any politician is arrested it causes damage to entire politics.
PPP is opposed to NAB from the very first day. But PTI has been defending NAB. It was part of charter of democracy from 2008 to 2013 that we will shut NAB. Imran Khan declared it “muk mukao” and he started campaign to save NAB.
Imran Khan is the first politician who has benefitted from NAB amendments; he said adding it is matter of regret that he is facing charges of grave corruption. He deceived his cabinet on the matter of transferring the money from UK.
I demand of all those who were members of PTI cabinet then that they should refute these charges.
We had said during Mian Sahb government that NAB should be shut. But our plea was not accepted. Today our allies have become convinced to our stance. It was demand of all of us that NAB reforms should be introduced. We brought NAB reforms. No one can remain 14 days in the NAB prison instead of 90 days.
He held now Imran Khan himself is benefitting from NAB reforms. 190 million pounds are owned by Pakistan.
He said Imran Khan has been arrested in corruption cases under law and constitution. Call for peaceful protest should have been given.PTI decided already that the reaction will not be political. The state was attacked.
It was endeavor of PPP that election is held in the country. We are striving that dialogue is held between the political parties. I was very hopeful our political dialogue will succeed. We still want elections are held in time.
He went on to say PTI People crossed every red line.
He remarked it is imperative for all political parties there is no judicial or other solution to the prevailing political crisis but a political solution should be found.
This is the best time for political parties to take advantage of this opportunity when establishment wants to stay neutral, he observed.
