LAHORE, March 11 (Online): Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh has sent petition against non giving the reserved seats to Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) to chief justice for referring it to respective bench.
The petition filed by Abdullah Malik advocate came up for hearing before justice Abid Aziz Sheikh Monday.
He recommended in his judicial note that another single bench is hearing the petition of this nature. This petition be also presented before the respective bench for hearing.
In the petition the step for not giving reserved seats to SIC has been challenged.
The plea has been taken in the petition the petitioner wrote 4 letters to EC in connection with reserved seats. The EC instead of giving reserved seats fixed the petition for preliminary hearing.
It was said in the petition that under election act reserved seats will be given to political party in proportion to number of winning candidates. EC is neither tribunal nor court. Therefore, EC decision be declared null and void.
