Islamabad High Court stops FIA from harassing people

ISLAMABAD, SEP 13 (Online): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has barred FIA from harassing people unnecessarily.

“Don’t do that thing which is done always. Registering cases against the people unduly is not good thing; the Chief Justice (CJ) IHC Athar Minallah gave these remarks while hearing the petitions seeking court orders to prevent the FIA from harassing the people in the cases registered in connection with Saudi Arabia incident and Long March here Tuesday.

Government and secretary National Assembly (NA) filed the report in the court.

Former interior minister Sheikh Rashid appeared in the court along with his counsel and told with the change of government here process of registration of contempt of court cases started.

The law officer told the government there is report of FIA that there is no case against Sheikh Rashid.

Counsel for Sheikh Rashid told the court cases were registered across the country on the occasion of Azadi March on May 25. We should be provided record of these cases. Several raids were conducted at the home of Sheikh Rashid.

The CJ IHC remarked this court can issue orders to the extent of Islamabad only.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till September 23.
