LAHORE, March 13 (Online): Imposition of section 144 in Lahore by the care taker Punjab government after the announcement of election schedule in the province has been challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC).
The petition has been filed by PTI central leader Hammad Azhar through Azhar Siddique advocate Monday making election commission, Punjab government and others respondents.
The petitioner said section 144 cannot be slapped after issuance of election schedule. The caretaker Punjab government imposed section 144 after announcement of election schedule.
The petitioner requested the court to declare Punjab government step on imposition of section 144 illegal besides issuing guidelines with reference to section 144 in future.
It is pertinent to mention that PTI chairman Imran Khan had announced to hold rally in connection with his election campaign on Sunday.
Later Lahore administration imposed section 144 in the city, deployed heavy contingent of police and called Rangers.
